This Video Shows How Much Pandas Grow In 100 Days And It's Adorable

by N/A, 9 years ago | 2 min read

If you thought Pandas were cute, this montage of twins' rapid growth at the Toronto Zoo will make you think they're about a million times cuter.

Watch the 100-day journey of growth these two Giant Panda cubs experienced.

In late 2015, the Toronto Zoo welcomed the birth of twin Giant Panda cubs.

The Toronto Zoo's Panda program is part of a world-wide effort to keep Pandas populated, happy and healthy.

When Pandas are born, they're extremely undeveloped and require close monitoring by zoo staff to make sure they're growing appropriately.

This is why the Toronto Zoo made a major event out of the first 100 days of the twins' lives. Here, you can see they're beginning to actually resemble Pandas by day 12–their fur is growing in and they're beginning to gain coloration.

Typically, a mother Panda will only raise a single Panda cub.

This means more assistance and care is required of zoo staff to make sure these tiny twins have the care they need.

By about four weeks, these twins started really looking like Pandas.

Just look at this cute pair! They've come a long way in a month and a half.

They'll be ready to start scarfing down all the bamboo their little tummies can handle soon enough.

By day 74, the Panda-stretching is on point.

In case you didn't know, Pandas have become endangered in the wild because of their diet of bamboo–in conjunction with destructive human forces–is difficult to maintain, and takes long hours to consume and digest. They also don't have a reputation for being the most graceful or self-sufficient animals. But that doesn't matter–they're an important part of this Earth and are pretty fluffy and cute, too.

84 days into their lives and they're beginning to fully take on Panda personalities.

By day 100, they're back in nearly full-time care of mom.

Though zoo staff will step in and look after the Pandas for important things like feeding, breeding and medical care, but now they're pretty much free to grow into their Panda selves.

Go Pandas!
