A Few Holes In A Wall And Sidewalk Allow This Croatian Boardwalk To Make Beautiful Music

by N/A, 10 years ago | 1 min read

For those that think waves crashing on the shore is water's only musical production, think again.

Music creative boardwalk croatia Non-Premium

This is a pretty normal boardwalk on the coast of Zadar, Croatia, right?

WRONG.  In addition to the stunning views, it also produces beautiful music thanks to an amazing invention by Nikola Bašic.

Air is pushed by wind and waves through a series of 35 organ pipes within the steps spanning 230 feet along the Adriatic Sea.
Crashing waves and gusting winds create random melodies described as "hauntingly memorable," and "hypnotizing."

The Sea Organ was awarded the European Prize for Urban Public Space in 2006 as a "perfect grandstand for watching the sunset over the sea and the outline of the [neighboring] island of Ugljan, while listening to the musical compositions played by the sea itself."

Listen for yourself!
