Sunset Pictures Are A Dime A Dozen... But This Guy Made Them Interesting And Hilarious

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

If you live in a place with beautiful scenery, you'd be foolish not to take advantage of it. Television producer John Marshall did, and he couldn't have chosen a better way to.

During a stint he spent in Frye Island, Maine, Marshall began capturing the beautiful sunsets provided night in and night out. Except, he rather than simply photographing them, he decided to add his own element to the picture.

He calls the ongoing project "Sunset Selfies," and this was the picture that started it all.
Marshall makes cardboard cutouts of various animals and characters, and creates silhouette scenes that can't help but come to life through the radiant backdrops each sunset provides.
Naturally, over time, he's become more creative with things.
Each sunset is uniquely different, and each scene, equally so.
Marshall is intent on letting people know that he doesn't have a 'copyright' on the concept. In fact, he encourages people to take up the idea themselves.
All you need is some cardboard, a pair of scissors, and a beautiful sunset. Sure, you could bring a friend. Or you could do what Marshall does and just make your own.
Check out the video he put together showing more of his awesome cardboard cutouts:
