This Is What Happens When Scientist Dropped This Feather Into Chemicals…This Is Too Crazy

by N/A, 10 years ago | 1 min read

Nitrogen triiodide is extremely reactive.

video Science Chemistry Non-Premium

Nitrogen Triiodide is an extremely unstable contact explosive.

Nitrogen Triiodide starts with a nitrogen atom that forms bonds with three iodine atoms.

This chemical compound is so reactive that even something as a light as a feather or even a mosquito can set it off.

The reaction is a result of something called bond strain. All three iodine atoms are so close together that the it becomes super unstable.

Check out the video to see this intense reaction in action.
