Materials scientists are trying to find new ways to create sustainable products and these scientists have turned to nature toÂ
Scientists in Amsterdam have been using a fungus called mycelium as the test subject for this experiment.
They use a 3D printing filament made from potato starch that is porous and allows fungus to grow. Then it's heated so that the growth will stop and a sturdy, plastic-like material is left behind.
