1. Cory was supposed to have two best friends.

In the first three episodes of the series, Cory, Shawn and another kid are friends. In one scene, he sits in what was called "the death chair," where characters would film a scene and then never return.

2. Shawn once said he had a sister.

In one episode, Shawn called his sister Stacy, but she's never seen or heard from again after that. This is because one of Cory's friends "disappears" right before that episode was shot. So Rider Strong, who played Shawn was given that actors lines the day before the episode was shot.

3. The kids skip some grads throughout the series.

In season 1 Cory, Topanga and Shawn are in 6th grade. In season 2, they're in 7th and by season 4, they're in 11th grade.

4. Members of Topanga's family disappear.

Her older sister, Nebula appears in one episode and her parents were played by 5 different actors during the shows run.

5. Eric and Shawn were never able to do many scenes together.

The actors are great friends, but their characters weren't written into scenes very often, but they would just look at each other and laugh.

6. Topanga was named after Topanga Canyon.

Producers were driving on the highway near Topanga Canyon when they settled on the name.

7. Cory and Topanga got married because of an internet poll.

ABC producers ran an internet poll about the nuptials because there was a disagreement among executives who thought they might be too young to get married.

8. Rider Strong hated the Shawn haircut.

A lot of fans loved it, but Strong actually had to have his hair straightened every day and he hated it.

9. Rider Strong wanted to quit the show so he could go to college.

Producers convinced him that he could do both, so he did. He lived in the dorms and took all morning classes, then came to the set to shoot at night.

10. Minkus originally has a different name.

Minkus was originally supposed to be named Stuart Lempke, but producers discovered that there was actually someone by that name living in the area where they shot the show.
