The octopus is one of the most amazing creatures in the ocean. Here are a few of its amazing talents.

1. They can make themselves look like other creatures.

A specific species of octopus that can be found in the Indo-Pacific can change its shape to look like a venomous predator. 

2. They know how to keep a home.

An octopus spends several hours  a day cleaning gravel, sand and food from their dens. Female octopi lay eggs in a formation that looks like a beaded chandelier. 

3. They can make forts.

Octopi move every few days to find prey, so they have to rebuild their homes with every move. They look for hidden, dark places that are only a little bit larger than the size of their bodies. 

4. They've been known to take on sharks...and win.

Octopi at the Seattle Aquarium were housed with dogfish shark in 2001. At first, everything seemed okay, but parts of shark bodies started showing up in the tank soon after.

5. They're known for being escape artists.

Since octopi have jelly-like bodies, they're able to squeeze through spaces much smaller than then. They can even untie knots, open locks and undo latches. 

6. They're inventive eaters.

Octopi have sharp beaks and something can a radula, which they use to drill foods like clams and oysters. They inject them with neurotoxins and the crustaceans open. 

7. They can be pretty lazy.

The male octopi's sex organ is located the end of one of its arms, so it doesn't have to do much work at all. 

8. They're very smart.

The octopus is actually the smartest invertebrate in the animal kingdom. They can recognize faces, solve puzzles, navigate mazes and open bottles. 

9. They can walk on land.

Certain shallow water species come to the shore to hunt. Some of them even eat seagulls.

10. They can completely transform within seconds.

In just .3 seconds, an octopus can change its shape, color and texture to blend in with its surroundings.
